Camera Porn

I thought that my last batch of Polaroid film that I’d purchased for a pretty penny from the Impossible Project, would be my last dalliance with Polaroid film.

Turns out, now I have a job, it might just become my very expensive hobby. You see – I spanked the last of the Silver Shade film last night at fireworks night. The photos didn’t come out that great, but to be honest that’s a combination of dirty rollers on the 600 camera, and my not adjusting the exposure sufficiently to make up for the fact it was pretty dark. “Oh well”, I said to myself…but I couldn’t get over the fact that I’d not made the most of that film. So I went back to the Impossible site and dropped 35 quid on a new pack of Silvershade, and a new extended frog tongue to modify the 600 so that light doesn’t hit the uber-sensitive Impossible film.

Not only that – I now find myself looking at a SX-70 on eBay. It’s an absolute classic, a Polaroid SLR, the camera Tarkovsky would shoot with. There’s a SX-70 Alpha for 90 quid (at the moment, anyway), with both a shade and some film in it , which together, would cost me 30 quid anyway so…might be worth the punt. It is a beautiful camera
